We are proud to call Associated Mothers in Action (AMiA) our Good Food Partner and ally, and we are honored to do what we can to support them. AMiA is dedicated to diverting food waste from landfills, lowering the carbon footprint of Los Angeles, and creating opportunities for economic growth within Compton. AMiA is rooted in a vision of a just and equitable future, and their work is done through two primary activities: organic waste recycling and garden education. AMiA uses a specialized composting system to process large amounts of organic waste, turning what would otherwise end up in landfills into an incredible resource that can restore and improve damaged or depleted soils, and they utilize these resources directly within their gardens. Through their garden programming, AMiA creates opportunities for community members to learn more about growing their own food, hosts nutrition and cooking education, and empowers people to advocate for a local good food economy.
