Healthy Neighborhood Market Network Business Counselor / Program associate
Jairi Sanchez is a Business Counselor / Program Associate with the Healthy Neighborhood Market Network. In this role, Jairi provides technical assistance to store owners by building the capacity and infrastructure of healthy food-related business operations. She is the proud daughter of street vendors, and through her work, she is committed to expanding opportunities and building healthy communities.
Prior to joining LAFPC, Sanchez supported the Vice President of Education and Immigration at the California Community Foundation and acted as Program Associate for the department. Sanchez was also the Psychology Department Manager at Mount Saint Mary’s University, where she coordinated six-degree programs across two campuses. At the same time, she Co-founded and was the Community Relations Officer of MedZango, a social enterprise startup which seeks to improve health outcomes for the chronically ill. At MedZango her notable achievements include winning Clinton Foundation Innovation Award, Min Family Engineering Social Entrepreneurship challenge, a semi-finalist in Princeton University Tiger Launch competition, and accepted into the USC Incubator and Health, Technology, and Engineering program at USC. Before these roles, Jairi was the Administrative Assistant for East Los Angeles Community Corporation.
Sanchez holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of California, Los Angeles and a master's in social entrepreneurship from the University of Southern California. She was a Forbes Under 30 Scholar, SoFi Entrepreneur, and a Starting Bloc: Social Innovation Fellow.
